Book The Seventy-Third

The Apocalypse War by John Wagner and Alan Grant

“When you’re more afraid of the cops than the people they’re meant to be protecting you from, you’re in London. That, or Mega City One.”

-Si Spurrier

One of the most famous Judge Dredd stories from 2000AD, where East-Meg One (basically the Russians – this was the eighties after all) declares war on Mega-City One.

Judge Dredd is great. A violent fascist with no regard for personal freedom, or even human life, and he’s far and away the good guy. I loved him when I was nine, and I love him now.

This is a ridiculously patchy story that wouldn’t make a lick of sense to anyone who didn’t grow up in the Cold War, or reading 2000AD, but by god it’s fun.
