A Victorian tale of a young girl who is sent from India to England in the wake of her mother’s mysterious death, and begins experiencing troubling visions.

A bit drawn out, and I spent a while wading through the teen-angst wanting Bray to get to the point before I realised that the teen angst was the point. In much the way that Sparklepires! The Motion Picture – sorry, Twilight – is a romance that just happens to have some sparklepires in it, this is a story of a teen outcast and the troubles with friendships, which also has some magic every so often. Still, once I realised that, the book kept my attention, and whiled away a few days of my time…
